It’s a Boy Christmas post card.
This watercolor by Robert E Rasmussen seeks to express the essence of Christmas beyond the busyness of the season. The announcement, as if from heaven, “It’s a Boy!” depicts the joy of this unique event in history. Emanating out from the stable brilliance (where the Christ-child was born) two messages beam forth. First, the deep spiritual declaration of the event is conveyed in the statement, “God made in likeness of man.” This may seem inconceivable to the human mind, but it is the bold claim of the Bible and the conviction of all Christians everywhere. This leads to the second bold statement emanating from the stable, “Dude [or, friend], This changes everything.” Because God entered humanity as a child who became a man, history cannot ever be the same. As the Bible says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
